adiology Institute was formed in 1928. The first head of the Institute was Veselin G. Krajičić, prim. Dr, in 1931. With the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, in 1960, Radiology Institute became its teaching center. Since 1974 Radiology Institute has been an independent institution within Clinical Center Niš.
Radiology Center is a highly-specialized health institution which deals with diagnostics using modern radiological methods. The institution possesses modern equipment for conventional and interventional diagnostics and therapy:
• Computerized tomography
• Magnetic resonance
• Digital angio-room
• Echosonography Cabinet
• Digital mammography (stationary and mobile) for early detection of breast cancer and stereotaxic biopsyApart from standard invasive diagnostics and basic methods of interventional radiology, the Center also deals with: percutaneous vertebroplasty, peripheral stenting, carotid stenting, endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms and arteriovenous malformation etc.
Radiology Center applies modern diagnostic and interventional-therapeutic procedures, which makes the Center a benchmark institution across the country. Many of the doctors and radiological technicians have been educated in top radiological centers worldwide. Radiologists from the Center have performed very complicated procedures from the field of interventional radiology in many University Hospitals (Brazil, Romania, Slovenia).
