ENDOCRINOLOGY, DIABETES AND METABOLIC DISEASES CLINIC

The beginning of endocrinology service dates from 1963, when the Diabetes Counseling was established, which was the first one in Yugoslavia. Endocrinology Unit within the Department of Internal Diseases was formed in the same year. This unit was transformed into a department. In 1990, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Clinic was established. This clinic today represents a highly specialized health institution which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine system diseases.
Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Clinic is also a place where numerous international clinical trials are conducted. A significant number of doctors has completed the appropriate training to carry out clinical trials.
The clinic is engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine and metabolic diseases. It the last years, the following procedures have been introduced:
- Fine-needle biopsy of the thyroid (FNB)
- Treatment of diabetes mellitus using insulin pumps
- Treatment of endocrine ophthalmopathy with pulse doses of corticosteroids
- Microalbuminuria, HbA1c, WMA, toxicological analysis, etc.
